Upgrades and shop
There are two kinds: upgrades you pick during a run, and permanent tiers you buy with Umbra between runs.
Run upgrades
After every boss you see three upgrades and keep one. They last until the run ends. Upgrades have levels, and each level has its own rarity, from Common to Legendary. Higher rarities show up more often the deeper you go. An upgrade you already hold offers its next level.

Umbra
You earn Umbra by playing:
- 1 per ghost killed
- 5 per depth cleared
- 10 plus the depth number per boss beaten
- A little from pots and mini bosses
Umbra is paid when the run ends. The game over screen shows what you earned.
The shop in the Hall
The shop sells permanent tiers of upgrades. Bought tiers count as taken from the start of every run. After a purchase the shop shows the next tier.
| Tier | Price in Umbra |
|---|---|
| Common | 400 |
| Uncommon | 1,200 |
| Rare | 2,400 |
| Epic | 4,800 |
| Legendary | 8,000 |
Prices can change between versions.
Tips
- Early on, take health and defense. Guard and Level Up keep a run alive.
- Stack one theme. Three levels of one upgrade usually beat three different ones.
- Buy cheap tiers of many upgrades first, then go deep on the ones you like.
