Nightrend

Nightrend is the second boss in Nrisca: a giant wolf that hunts you and calls its pack.

Attacks

• Paw slam: a heavy hit on a block of the arena. Leave the marked area.
• Claw sweep: a sweep across the whole width of the screen. Find the gap and move into it.
• Howl and pack call: a ring spreads out from Nightrend, then shadow wolves run down lanes. Treat the howl and the pack call as one combo.

How it plays

Nightrend hunts you. Its warning zones aim at where you stand, then lock. Keep moving until the zone locks, then step out. Nightrend likes tricky timing, with fake-outs and delayed hits, so a warning that looks finished may not hit yet. Wait for the hit to land before you go in.

Tips

• Watch the warning, not the wolf.
• When the pack runs, stay out of the lanes. Move between them.
• Do not rush in right after a dodge. Strike when the boss is open.

Reward

Beating Nightrend for the first time unlocks the Lantern. It makes your own light bigger, which helps when the screen gets dark.
